Key contacts
The CMS FinTech practice area is comprised of a team renowned in its field, both nationally and internationally. In Chile, our team of experts has participated in roundtables organized by the Financial Market Commission (CMF, acronym for its Spanish, Comisión del Mercado Financiero), discussing a wide array of topics such as open banking, crowdfunding and FinTech topics in general.
As of 2018, CMS Carey & Allende has been a part of the FinteChile Legal Committee, under the Chilean Fintech Companies Association, which encompasses over 200 sector entities. Our experts have provided advice to said association on relevant issues such as posing observations and recommendations for the Financial Portability bill (which has been passed as law), and the FinTech bill. Our team has also participated by presenting observations to the white paper issued by the CMF, with regards to general guidelines for crowdfunding regulations, and its related services. Currently, our team heads the Crypto and Blockchain roundtable organized by FinteChile.
With its disruptive perspective, CMS Carey & Allende’s Fintech team focuses on fostering growth in the field, providing advice to startups, as well as consolidated scaleups. Over the last three years, our team members have supported some of the most innovative Chilean fintech companies, providing regulatory and commercial advice, and our knowledge of the nuances within the field has been instrumental in providing sound legal advice.
Taking into account that the knowledge and the application of regulation is vital for the development of any entity within the FinTech industry, our fluid relationships with supervisory authorities, together with our team members’ in-depth knowledge of the ins and outs of the field, distinguish us as an ideal advisor for this type of company. Our team of attorneys has advised a variety of startups in their initial phases, from product design and creation, to more advanced stages, including development and scaling of projects in all areas of FinTech, such as:
- Crowdfunding
- Payment and remittance service providers
- Cryptocurrencies and blockchain
- Scoring, identity and fraud
- Personal and enterprise financial management (PFM and EFM)
