Currently, there’s no escaping the buzzword "crypto". Cryptoassets are no longer just a hot topic for early adopters; they are poised to become the investment vehicle of the masses. This makes the question of taxation more important. In this first episode, Dr Martin Friedberg, lawyer and tax adviser, and Dr Hendrik Arendt, also a lawyer specialising in tax law, provide an insight into their day-to-day work advising domestic and international clients on crypto taxation and blockchain based business models. They also deal with the basics of crypto asset transactions from a German income tax, corporate tax and trade tax as well as VAT perspective.
