Social & Human Rights

Offering equal opportunities for everyone and accepting diversity: companies can and must play their part here through professional diversity management if they take sustainability seriously. Diversity and inclusion are key factors for junior staff and young talent when choosing their employer, and result in greater identification with the corporate culture.

To promote diversity and inclusion, companies need to take proactive steps that impact all levels within the company: from young professionals to senior management

Inclusion

The concept of inclusion describes a society in which there is no uniform standard, but everyone is accepted and participates equally. The differences that enhance the workforce are considered to be “normal”.
Companies are required by law to ensure equal participation of severely disabled people in working life. However, today’s understanding of diversity management is much broader.

We can help you analyse your processes, advise you on all legal issues arising in this context and support and represent you in negotiating an inclusion agreement with the works council and the representative body for severely disabled persons.

Non-discriminatory corporate governance

Establishing equal opportunities is essential for the sustainable development of society. Sustainable corporate governance thus also entails avoiding discrimination. Internal company processes with regard to selecting applicants, upskilling and personnel development, structuring of remuneration and in connection with company pension schemes, for example, should be regularly reviewed by employers to ensure that they prevent discrimination and allow diversity.

Special attention should also be paid to avoiding indirect discrimination, which can cost companies dearly, whether in the course of current employment relationships or in the context of staff reductions.

We help our clients to set up professional diversity management, to critically review measures and processes on the basis of the applicable laws and German and European case law and/or to establish such measures and processes.
