The important role of the in-house solicitor, and how the organisations they work for must support them, is of key focus to the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Following the first thematic review in 10 years of in-house solicitors, the SRA has issued a suite of detailed dedicated guidance for in-house solicitors and the Legal Services Board is consulting on a policy statement on ethics.
In this session, Tamsin Blow (Litigation) and Zoe Burge (Insurance) will address the key themes of the SRA’s new guidance for in-house lawyers against the backdrop of the SRA’s Principles and Code of Conduct solicitor’s conduct obligations, including independence and balancing competing duties, policies and controls and culture. They will also highlight further specific areas of concern such as conducting internal investigations, reporting obligations, conduct in disputes and use of NDAs.
The session will be relevant to all in-house lawyers, both those that lead teams and more junior lawyers.
